Malacca: Over a hundred of people attended the Candle Light Vigil, one of the events of the "Free Teresa, Abolish ISA" campaign late Tuesday (16 Sept), calling for the release of those detained under ISA.

Also present were DAP Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him, Kesidang assemblyman Goh Leong San, Ayeh Keroh assemblyman Khoo Poay Tiong, Bachang assemblyman Lim Jak Wong, Kota Laksamana assemblywoman Betty Chew Gek Cheng, Bandar Hilir assemblyman Tey Kok Kiew and other party members.

Sim said the country's democracy seems to have died as politicians are detained people under ISA in unreasonable circumstances in order to achieve their own agenda and objectives.

He said that while the country is advancing towards developed country status, advocating freedom of speech and letting the people to get the correct information, the government detained a journalist, a blogger and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok without giving them an opportunity to explain.

He hoped that the Candle Light Vigil can show the public power and resist all supreme power means. Also, he hoped the government could abolish ISA. (Sin Chew Daily)
