30 Hour Famine

The World Vision 30 hour Famine is an annual international youth movement to fight hunger. At the same time, money is raised to fund World Vision emergency relief operations and development work in poor communities.

The event is co-organised by Sin Chew Daily, World Vision Malaysia (WVM) and Help college.

According to WVM Chairman Philip T.N. Koh, the target this year would be RM1 million. The money will mainly be used to help poor children in various countries, including Malaysia, in the hope of improving their lives.

The theme for this year is “You've Got the Power!” Self-organised mini camps have been started early August around the country and participants will forego solid food for at least 26 hours. The countdown for the last four hours of the event will be held at National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil this Sunday (24 Aug).

The closing ceremony will be participated by local and foreign artists, including 30 Hour Famine Angel, Malaysian famous singer cum producer Michael Wong.
