Sabah Umno reps quit party en masse

  • Sabah Umno is left with only one MP and one state assemblyman.

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 12 (MySinchew) -- Sabah Umno Members of Parliament and state assemblymen quit the party en masse today, state Umno chairman Datuk Hajiji Noor announced in a press conference.

They will become independent representatives and support the leadership of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The state assemblymen who have quit Umno are Hajiji Noor (Sulaman), Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar (Kawang), Datuk Mohd. Arifin Mohd. Arif (Membakut), Datuk Isnin Aliasnih (Klias), Datuk Matbali Musah (Lumadan), Datuk Masidi Manjun (Karanaan), Datuk Musbah Jamli (Tempasuk) and Datuk Japlin Akim (Usukan).

Members of Parliament from Sabah who have left Umno are Datuk Azizah Mohd. Dun (Beaufort), Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri (Kudat), Datuk Zakaria Mohd. Edris (Libaran) and Datuk Ronald Kiandee (Beluran).

Also quitting the party are senators Datuk John Ambrose and Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohamed Yassin

Absent from today's press conference are former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman (Sungai Sibuga state assemblyman), his son Yamani Hafez Musa (MP for Sipitang) and Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (MP for Kinabatangan).
