PETALING JAYA, Apr 26 (MySinchew) -- The following are some of the highlights of the 14th general elections for the day:

MORE THAN 700 Barisan Nasional supporters from Tanjung Malim parliamentary seat protested outside the prime minister's office in Putrajaya this morning, demanding that their incumbent member of parliament Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan be allowed to defend his seat.

They even threatened to vote for Pakatan Harapan or spoil their votes if Ong is not fielded.

DAP'S CANDIDATE FOR Damansara parliamentary seat Tony Pua said even if Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad did something bad during the 1990s, it could not be denied that there was development in the country when he was in power.

Speaking at the launch of Bukit Lanjan PKR's GE14 election machinery last night, Pua said BN must be brought down as Najib's government had been branded one of the world's most corrupt administrations.

He said Malaysia used to be one of Asia's tigers, but today we are not even a kitten but a rat, and it was a shame for Malaysia to be called a country ruled by bandits.

INCUMBENT TOURISM AND culture minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was an eligible man to help the prime minister run the country because he was loyal to his boss, prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

AN ELECTION COMMISSION official told Sin Chew Daily it was alright to use the pictures of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the election campaign, but not Anwar Ibrahim or Lim Kit Siang.

He said it was wrong for social media users to allege that the use of Tun Mahathir's pictures was banned.

"As the chairman of PPBM, sure enough Mahathir's pictures can be used, but only on PPBM's promotional materials.

However, he said Anwar Ibrahim's pictures could not be used even though he was PKR de facto leader.

"This is because de facto leader is not elected by the party."
