KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (MySinchew) -- The police have arrested seven suspected Abu Sayyaf terrorists to assist in the investigation on attempted terrorist attacks during the recent 29th Asean Games closing ceremony and national day parade in the city.

IGP Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the seven Filipino men were believed to be members of Abu Sayyaf group.

"They are aged between 22 and 38, and were working as security guards at private companies in Klang Valley."

Fuzi said one of them, a 22-year-old suspect, had combat experiences against the Philippine military and had been involved in kidnappings in southern Philippines.

"Investigation shows that these people entered Sabah via Sandakan in September 2015 before flying into West Malaysia using counterfeit documents."
