Special Branch director Fuzi is new IGP

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Special Branch director Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun is the new Inspector-General of Police.

Mohamad Fuzi, 58, took office today to succeed Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar who went on mandatory retirement, also today.

The handing over of duties for the top post in the Royal Malaysia Police took place today at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Mohamad Fuzi joined the Royal Malaysia Police on Jan 8, 1984, as a cadet ASP (assistant superintendent of police) at Pulapol.

He served as the acting Deputy IGP for two months in 2014.
