KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (MySinchew) -- Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang said he had shown with his most practical action to Chinese tourists that Kuala Lumpur is a peaceful, prosperous and tourist-friendly city.

He said he also encouraged Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia during the upcoming long holidays, and hoped his kind gesture would not be misunderstood or distorted.

He told the media he learned from local newspapers that Wisma Putra had intended to summon him for questioning over the remarks he made during a recent visit to Petaling Street.

In another development, acting foreign minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin has vetoed the summons letter signed by deputy home minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
