Big potentials in e-commerce: CK Wong

SEREMBAN (Sin Chew Daily) -- The third edition of Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2015 roadshow had its first stop in Seremban. Other than a briefing on the awards, participants were also given detailed account on e-commerce trends and opportunities.

The Seremban stop roadshow was held at the Negeri Sembilan Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

CK Wong, founder of eCommerceMILO/Silver Mouse, shared with the participants the challenges and opportunities of e-commerce. He said businesses should be equipped with passion, niche, business plan, customer service and build a brand before they should venture into e-commerce.

He said businesses should have a deeper understanding of the Internet and their products in order to get into e-commerce.

"Malaysia has vast potentials for e-commerce. Studies show that some 60% of Malaysians surf the net regularly, and most of them do so through smartphones.

"Over the past few years, e-commerce has been growing at annual rates between 20% and 30%.

"Businesses must also consider how to increase traffic flow to their websites "

Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards working committee chairman Lenny Chiah told the participants that this year's event is divided into eight categories, namely Lifetime Excellence Achievement Award, Business Excellence Person of the Year Award, Business Sustainability Excellence Award, Retail Excellence Award, Product & Service Quality Excellence Award, CSR Excellence Award, Property Excellence Award, and Young / Emerging Business Excellence Award.

She urged the businesses in Negeri Sembilan to take part actively in this year's event as they did in previous years. Nomination for the 2015 Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards opens from April 1 and will end on June 15. The award presentation ceremony is expected to he held in late September.

Grant Thornton Malaysia partner Desmond Tan, meanwhile, talked about the rules and regulations for Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards as well as details for registration.
