Rare

A family of Bornean pygmy elephants are seen in Danum Valley Conservation Area in Sabah. The mysterious pygmy elephants may be the last survivors of Javan elephants thought to have been extinct centuries ago, WWF says. Researchers believe that the pygmy elephants, which are much smaller and more docile than their cousins found elsewhere in Asia, were brought to Borneo by royalty long ago, and then abandoned in the jungle.
